More than 60 cadets at the University of North Georgia (UNG) were recognized for academic, leadership and military achievement at a March 28 awards ceremony.

Kennesaw State University congratulates the nearly 6,000 students who were named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List were enrolled in at least 9 credit hours of courses and earned a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Kennesaw State University National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter recently swept the competition at the International Builders' Show in Orlando, Fla. The team placed first in the nation at the 2017 NAHB Student Chapters Residential Construction Management Competition for four-year programs.

Nine Kennesaw State students were honored recently for their outstanding research at the STEM Innovators Conference in Savannah. The students are Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance Minority Participation (LSAMP) Scholars.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

A total of 11,758 students enrolled during the 2016 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

Kennesaw State University's new Dance Theater will open to the public March 24, with the premiere of "Metamorphosis," an original work choreographed by Ivan Pulinkala, founding director of the Department of Dance at KSU.

The 25th annual Georgia Southern Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony represented a momentous day as approximately 1,700 of Georgia's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students received degrees from the University's eight colleges. Approximately 2,253 students have made the Fall Semester 2016 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.

Select students have been named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

The University of North Georgia awarded more than 800 degrees for the fall 2016 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held Dec. 16-17 at the university. "We are here to honor you with the richest tradition in the academic community - a commencement ceremony," UNG President Bonita Jacobs said before conferring degrees. "We all know what it took for you to reach this moment. We know that, as graduates of UNG, you will add meaning and value to the lives of those around you. Our hopes and dreams are with you. Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2016 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for fall 2016. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

The following local residents made the Fall 2016 Dean's List at Georgia Southwestern State University and were among 559 students recognized for scholastic achievement.

The University of Alabama awarded some 2,270 degrees during winter commencement Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. With this graduating class, UA will have awarded more than 257,000 degrees since its founding in 1831 as the state's first public university.
