Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

The following local students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the Dean's List for the 2015 spring semester at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.

Fort Lewis College was named the #2 USA Cycling Collegiate Division 1 team in the nation for its performance during the 2014-15 academic year. In the five disciplines of cycling, FLC placed 2nd in Track, 3rd in Mountain Biking, 2nd in Cyclocross, 4th in BMX, and 5th in Road.

Approximately 1,800 students have made the Spring Semester 2015 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.

During spring semester, the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Department of Visual Arts celebrated the accomplishments of its students with the presentation of awards and recognition and exhibitions that showcased the work of graduating seniors.

Piedmont College has recognized students from the 2015 Spring Semester who were selected as Dean's Scholars and named to the Dean's List. Students named as Dean's Scholars have earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the semester, and students named to the Dean's List have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.99.

Coastal Carolina University theatre students, faculty and theatre alumni recently participated in the reading of a new play, "TOAST," by Sam Carner and Derek Gregor.

More than 150 undergraduate students presented their research at the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) on Tuesday, April 14. Students from a wide variety of disciplines shared their findings through oral presentations, posters, artistic displays and performances.

The Jack Dunn Scholarship award is given to an undergraduate finance major in honor of Jack Dunn, former Commissioner of Banking and Finance for the State of Georgia. The recipient of this award is chosen based on the student's academic record.

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

This award recognizes students chosen to work at the Welcome Center and represent the university to prospective students and guests.

To be eligible for the President’s List, students must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

Over 450 students were named to Fort Lewis College's Dean's List for the Fall 2014 semester. These students took at least 15 credits of gradable hours and achieved a 3.60 or higher grade point average.

Valdosta State University has announced the names of students from Fall 2014 who have earned the academic status of Dean's List. Students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher on nine (9) or more semester hours with an institutional (VSU) GPA of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the Dean's List. More than 150 outstanding high school seniors were recently invited to attend Georgia Southern University's Scholars Day in Statesboro, Georgia.

Several area residents received merit scholarships to attend Fort Lewis College for the Fall 2014 semester. These merit scholarships are renewable for up to 120 credits if criteria are met. Fort Lewis College also offers several other scholarships, including grants, the Finish in Four! Scholarship, FLC Foundation scholarships, alumni scholarships, departmental scholarships, Native American scholarships, and outside scholarships.

The University of Findlay announces students named to the fall 2014 football team.

The University of Findlay is welcoming approximately 730 new undergraduate students this fall. Findlay's fall first-time, full-time entering class is 6.5 percent larger than last fall's class and the University's total enrollment is up 8.5 percent - 3,956, compared to 3,645 students last fall.

The Fall 2014 semester welcomed nearly 1300 new transfer and freshmen students to Durango, Colorado.
